I am an artist from Charleston now living in San Francisco. I am also the great grand daughter of William Gilmore Simms.

Halsey was my 1st teacher as a child in painting and I credit him to this day with having had a powerful influence on my work both past and present.

    Ann,
What wonderful connections you have to Charleston’s literary and artistic figures. William Halsey was an art instructor for many years here at the Gibbes and then a professor at the College of Charleston where he continued to inspire many burgeoning artists.
