Join the Gibbes and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Spiritual Ensemble on January 10 at 3pm for a spirited vocal performance titled A Lowcountry Spiritual Journey II.  On the final day of the exhibition Daufuskie Island: Photographs by Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, Music Director Nathan L. Nelson, will lead the CSO Spiritual Ensemble on a musical journey honoring the spiritual—the historical musical form born of the suffering and endurance of African slaves in the South Carolina Lowcountry. In a setting surrounded by images of the past, this powerful performance will celebrate the unique, indigenous harmonies of the Lowcountry’s African American culture.

Tickets are $7 for museum members and students and $15 for non-members.  Click here to purchase tickets or call the Gibbes Museum Store at 722-2706, ext. 18.  NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS SOLD OUT – TICKETS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
