Face Lift exhibition

The Gibbes is hard at work on a great lineup of fall exhibitions including the highly-anticipated show Face Lift. By juxtaposing historic and contemporary portraits, this exhibition sequel will examine trends in American portraiture from the eighteenth century through today. Featuring both idiosyncratic and more traditional portrait pairings, Face Lift will challenge viewers to contemplate the power of portraiture through comparisons of iconography, pose, attire, props, medium, subject, and style.

Face Lift will be on view September 3 – December 5, 2010 in the Main Gallery. Be sure to mark your calendar for the Member Preview Party on Thursday, September 2. This event is for museum members only, click here to join the Gibbes.
