K-12

The Gibbes Museum of Art is invested in promoting student education through the arts. The Gibbes offers a range of in-school and museum based programs that are tailored to meet the needs of K-12 students and teachers. Interdisciplinary in nature, these programs consider the South Carolina Learning Standards and are a rich resource for teachers and students to explore local and national art and culture from the eighteenth century to the present.

Group Tours
The Gibbes Museum is committed to enhancing school curricula through the arts. In support of that mission, the Gibbes offers specialized tours and workshops for K-12 students attending schools, camps, and community-based organizations in the Charleston Tri-County area. Addressing key themes and ideas found in the Gibbes permanent collection and traveling exhibitions, these interactive programs are designed to encourage critical thinking and visual literacy skills while addressing SC Learning Standards.

Tours can be scheduled starting at 10:00am Monday through Friday. Call 843-722-2706 ext 41 for more information or special requests.
