Fannie Marie Cottenet (?)

Artist: Carlin, John \attributed
Date: before 1891

The exact identity of this young girl has never been established, but the suggestion that she is a child of the Cottenet family seems valid in terms of her dates, the artist and the provenance. Although from a Charleston family, she spent most of her childhood in New York where Carlin might have painted her.
