Eliza Huger Dunkin (Mrs. Percy Gamble Kammerer)

Artist: Waring, Leila
Date: 1923

Eliza Dunkin shared an interest in miniature portraiture with her friend Leila Waring. She was a major benefactor of the miniature portrait collection at the Gibbes Art Gallery, with donations for the original display area in the 1930s and an endowment which provides for additions and changes to the installation. Unlike many of Waring's other portraits, here the artist has used a frontal half-length pose, allowing the viewer to focus on the sitter's face.
