About Charles E. Williams I Artist

Informed by social consciousness, visual artist Charles Williams creates works based on the natural world, an interest in human emotion and personal experience. Williams's recent works draw inspiration from historical photography of the American Civil Rights movement, and through the use of color and gesture as a contemporary response to social and political issues of the past and present. Williams received his BFA from SCAD in 2006 and earned his MFA from UNC Greensboro in 2017. His works have been featured widely in print and in online publications, and have exhibited nationally. Williams’s work can be found in both private and museum collections, including the Petrucci Foundation of African American Art (NJ), the Gibbes Museum of Art (SC), the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Knoxville Museum of Art (TN), and other national museums.
