The Gibbes Museum of Art Presents The Art of Design Spring Luncheon and Lecture with Charlotte Moss
Annual Spring Luncheon
(Charleston, South Carolina) – The Women’s Council of the Gibbes Museum of Art presents Art of Design, a lecture and luncheon benefitting the museum on Friday, March 7, 2014. The annual luncheon brings sought-after speakers to share their expertise on design. This year’s featured speaker will encourage guests to embrace a visual life. “We are thrilled to welcome Charlotte Moss to Charleston. Her wealth of knowledge about design and business acumen will inspire and inform our guests,” says Gibbes Museum Executive Director Angela Mack.
Ms. Moss’ designs reveal a global influence as well as an appreciation of history with a contemporary twist. Since opening her design business in 1985, she has designed private residences and executive suites all over the country. Ms. Moss lectures widely on the all the arts of living, and has written eight books including her most recent, A Visual Life: Scrapbooks, Collages, and Inspiration. In addition to writing books, she contributes frequently to The Wall Street Journal, and was recently featured as “pop-up” guest editor in the November issue of House Beautiful. Focusing on “The Arts of Living,” with special sections on home fragrance, books, music, wine and more, she writes,
“As designers, we go far beyond how rooms look and feel: we create atmosphere and that means creating beauty that affects all of our senses. I’m focusing on the arts of living, being surrounded by beauty, enveloped in fragrance, listening to good music, reading good books, enjoying good food and wine with friends. Basically, what we DO at home, how we LIVE.”
Ms. Moss will offer a visual presentation during the three-course luncheon featuring a selection of seasonal favorites. A book signing will follow the luncheon.
