The Gibbes Museum of Art welcomes groups to experience the Museum’s permanent collection and traveling exhibitions. The following information is designed to help you plan your group’s visit.
Guided Tours and Group Programs
Guided tours with a Museum Educator or Docent are available to groups with no less than 10 and no more than 60 people. These discussion-based tours are designed to initiate dialogue about ideas raised by the works on view. Student groups must have one chaperone for every ten students. Chaperones are required and therefore not charged. Guided tours must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance.

- College Students and Seniors, $6 per person
- Adults, $7 per person
*Please note that there is a $50, $60, or $70 minimum respectively for all guided tours.
Based upon availability, curator-led adult tours can be scheduled upon request.

K-12, college, adult, and senior groups are welcome to explore the Museum's exhibitions on their own or with an outside educator. Self-guided tours must have a minimum of ten participants and take place during the Museum's public hours. There is no time limit for self-guided groups, and participants may remain in the Museum, or re-enter after the conclusion of their tour.

- College, Seniors: $5 per person
- Adults: $6 per person
Scheduling a Tour
To schedule a tour, please email your request to email@example.com or call (843) 722.2706 ext. 41. Reservations are contingent upon availability, and tours are not scheduled until confirmed via telephone. Please have the following information available when booking your tour:
- your name and the name of your organization/school
- contact telephone number (cell or home number if available)
- type of tour you are requesting
- several dates and times you would like to bring your group
- age/ grade and number of people in your group
- number of chaperones
- important thematic/curriculum connections
- special needs your group may require
We request that cancellations of tours occur in writing at least three business days before your scheduled visit. You may email your cancellation letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that refunds will NOT be given for reservations cancelled less than two business days before the scheduled date. Groups will be responsible for their minimum tour fee if they are a no show, or cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled tour time.
Please be prompt! Groups more than 35 minutes tardy will forfeit their time slot.
You may pay for your tour by cash, check, money order, or credit card. Tours must be paid for at least one week before the scheduled date. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Gibbes Museum of Art. Please be sure to write the words “Group Tour” on the check or money order. Reimbursements are NOT given if there are fewer people in your group than initially scheduled.
The Gibbes does not currently have an indoor lunch facility. In warmer weather, however tours may reserve the outdoor courtyard for picnics (limited tables and chairs available).
Cameras and Backpacks
Photography is not allowed inside the museum. Bins are provided for coats and backpacks. All large bags and coats must be checked prior to the start of the tour. A limited number of lockers are available for valuables.
Parking in front of the art museum accommodates two large buses or three vans. There is no on-site parking for cars. Public lot parking is available nearby.
