Smith performed the duties of magistrate in Adams Run, SC. Typical of Fraser's portraits of successful men, the likeness of Smith is straightforward and pleasing. The stippling is neat and unobtrusive. "Mr. BB Smith . . . .$50" is listed in the account book for 1820.
