Mrs. White's husband's family was from Georgia. According to Cloriviere's diary still in family hands he painted numerous miniatures for Mrs. White in Augusta during May and June, 1806. Cloriviere lovingly painted Mary White's lace collar, bonnet and flowers with a delicate and precise touch. Her features, including her skewed right eye and pug nose, are directly rendered.
