The younger sister of Susannah Campbell King, Margaret married Judge King in 1830 following her sister's death in 1828. The portrait of the second Mrs. King is more feminine and delicate than that of her sister painted seven years earlier. In particular, the gaily colored plaid shawl and soft stippling give the portrait a warmth lacking in the other. Painted in 1826, Fraser received $60 for the portrait.
