Charles Prince

Artist: Bak, C.
Date: 1801

An artist with the name Bak has not been located, leading some to believe that his name has been cut off by the frame and might be considered Baker. The style, in its opaque background, linear handling, and attention to details of dress, resembles the work of French emigre artists, especially Vallee. The characterization is strong, indicating an accomplished artist.
