Ammon Buckley

Artist: Inman, Henry
Date: 1828

Inman's portrayal of Buckley exudes romanticism. The pose is striking and the sitter is enhanced by a vista into the landscape. The use of the fur-trimmed cape also adds considerable breadth to the figure which offsets the verticality of the oval.
