Mary Ann Bentham married Simons in 1840, and the miniature shows her in her wedding dress. A similar oil portrait by Thomas Wightman exists, and the miniature may be a copy of it. As in Emma Izard's portrait, there is a careful attention to details and textures, however, here the face has a youthful freshness.
