Mrs. Mumford Milner (Elizabeth Brewton)

The daughter of Robert Brewton, a prominent Charleston banker, and his wife Mary Griffith, Elizabeth Brewton married Mumford Milner on 27 September 1741. Her brother was Miles Brewton, an extremely wealthy businessman in Charleston who in 1769 built the town house on King Street now known as the Miles Brewton House. Her sister Rebecca Brewton Motte was a Revolutionary War heroine. Elizabeth Milner had three children: a son, Jeremiah Milner, who died at an early age, and two daughters, who both married Thomas Pinckney in succession.
