Caroline Heath was the daughter of a planter and married Greer in 1832. Evidently a somewhat plain woman who wore spectacles, Mrs. Greer is portrayed by Jackson simply and honestly. He has given her a more relaxed pose than her husband's, and has devoted a good deal of attention to her costume.
