Faber was a lawyer and planter who lived near Adams Run, SC. Small details such as the shirt pin and the white edges of the sitter's collar display Fraser's mastery of miniature portraiture. For 1837 Mr. Joseph Faber is listed in the account book. Either Fraser incorrectly entered the name of the sitter or the identity of the sitter is mistaken.
