James McPherson

Artist: Malbone, Edward Greene
Date: ca. 1801

James was the only son of General John McPherson and appears to be about five years old in the portrait. The ivory of young James was at one time framed on the reverse side of his father's portrait, painted by the same artist at the same time. Whether this was the original conception is not knows as the two portraits are now separate.
