Thurston was a native of Newport, Rl, who became a merchant in New York. After retiring in 1856 he moved to New Rochelle, NY, where he was active in public service, as well as in historical societies and genealogical matters.
Staigg's style is straightforward, with an occasional tendency toward softly brushed areas, in this case the background.
