M. S. Thompson

Artist: Sully, Thomas
Date: 1811

The portrait of Thompson should be considered a quick sketch, probably done by Sully as a personal tribute to the sitter. It has the quick, spontaneous brushwork which is one of the hallmarks of Sully's style. The intertwined monogram is also typical.
