Samuel Mayrant

Artist: Fraser, Charles
Date: 1834 or 1839

The son of Mrs. William Mayrant, Mayrant became an attorney and resided in Sumter, SC. Myrant's miniature is typical of Fraser's work of the 1830s, in which the light background contrasts with the dark clothing of the sitters. Fraser recorded a portrait of a Mr. Mayrant in 1834 and 1839; it is not certain which date applies to this miniature.
