Closer Look Tour: Art and Medicine
Take a deep dive into the Gibbes permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. These tours are open to the public and will be led by curators, artists, or community members who will share their unique insights and experiences. On this tour, learn more about the relationship between art and medicine with Lisa Kerr and Shelly Ozark, both with the Medical University of South Carolina.
Lisa Kerr, PhD has been a faculty member of the Center for Academic Excellence/Writing Center since 2007 at MUSC. She also directs the Office of Humanities, leading efforts to integrate the health humanities into the health science education of MUSC's six colleges. Shelly Ozark, MD is a stroke neurologist and the Medial Director of Ethics Consultation. Her undergraduate training featured a combination of anthropology, biology, and philosophy with an emphasis on the mind-body connection/problem.
