Crossing Over Tour

April 26, 2023 @ 12:00 AM

Gibbes Museum of Art

Art and symbolism have long played an important role in how we make sense of the boundary between life and death. Push the boundaries of existence by exploring the Historic Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Jewish Cemetery, the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in the South. Then discover some of the portraits of Charlestonians buried there in our permanent collection and mourning jewelry from the Charleston Museum with Virginia Theerman, Curator of Historic Textiles.

This tour will meet at the Gibbes and includes shuttle transportation to and from the cemetery.
