Inspired by the exhibition In Body and Soul: The Figure in Modernist Photography join us for a virtual lecture by Professor of History at the University of Toronto Elspeth H. Brown. In Queering Fashion Photography: The 'Amorous Regard' of George Platt Lynes, Brown offers queer histories of capitalism and interwar glamour through an analysis of George Platt Lynes's photographic work. This event is a part of a three part lecture series where scholars from across the country will put contributions of the lensmen and lenswomen who defined photography in the 20th century into bold, new contexts. This event will take place on Zoom. Brown is a Professor of History at the University of Toronto, where they teach queer and trans history; the history of US capitalism; oral history; and the history and theory of photography. They also currently serve as the Director of the Digital Humanities Network at the University of Toronto.
