From the Archives: The Absolutes, Art of Jazz Virtual Series
July 16, 2020 @ 12:00 AM
The Gibbes Museum and Charleston Jazz are delighted to share the virtual series From the Archives: Art of Jazz Edition. Under normal circumstances, we would all be enjoying this ongoing series together, live and in person, but it has been postponed due to COVID-19. As an alternative, each month, Charleston Jazz will release a full Art of Jazz performance on Facebook and YouTube.
The Absolutes
Originally performed live on August 15, 2018
During the final show of the 2nd Annual Art of Jazz Series, The Absolutes saxophonist Kevin Patton and pianist Maxx Bradley debuted eight original compositions inspired by artwork on exhibit at the Gibbes Museum. The quartet included Fisher Wilson on bass and Miller Boone on drums. The Absolutes are former members of the College of Charleston Jazz Combo, which is under the direction of Robert Lewis. See the full set list here.
This series would not be possible without the support from our Art of Jazz Sponsors: the Kite Foundation Fund, Art Bridges, the Gibbes’ Women’s Council, Fox Music, 5Church Charleston, Hyams Garden and Accent Store, the Joseph J. Schott Foundation, the Lowcountry Quarterly Arts Grant, and Charleston Magazine.
