Class Canceled. Learn this fun dyeing technique using cassava root paste and natural indigo. The first day we will be preparing the cassava root paste and our stencils. The cassava root is used in West Africa as a paste to be painted onto fabric in different patterns. It dries and sizes up the fabric, creating a plastic-like feeling resist that will not allow dye to penetrate the fabric. This is a really fun and different way to experience indigo and has endless possibilities for pattern. All materials are included by you are welcome to bring extra fabric to experiment with.
