Victor Hart
Since his youth, Hart has been fascinated with storytelling. As a child he enjoyed making up characters and monsters and other silly things, but wanted these things to have a logic to them as well. They needed to make sense. This would manifest through him making up names and backstories for these drawings. Often he would keep these ideas to himself.
As he got older this turned into him focusing on relaying these ideas through visual story telling. If a viewer could figure out things about the characters and world being displayed in his drawings, he considered it a successful piece of art. This is now his method of forming connections with others.
Artist Statement:
My work is interested in the idea of story telling and implicit backstories through visual media. Pieces exist within an imagined landscape named Firn. By having work exist within the fantastical, it creates an even field of accessibility for viewers. I want my work to have an appeal to a broad range of people of different ages and backgrounds, allowing them to interact with it by forming connections based on their own life experiences.
