Join us July 26 at 6PM for an exclusive screening of the documentary Raising Renee with the exhibiting artist at the center of this moving story, Beverly McIver.

The documentary follows McIver as, just one year after her first solo show in New York, she must defer her burgeoning career in order fulfill her promise to her recently deceased mother of taking care of her sister, Renee, who was born with an intellectual disability.

Directed by filmmakers Steven Ascher and Jeanne Jordan, Raising Renee examines how McIver's role as a caretaker shapes her work as an artist and how race, identity, and class deeply affect the relationships that she often portrays in her work.

The film will be followed by a discussion with the artist, Beverly McIver.
