Allison Gildersleeve’s canvases, collages and drawings can only be experienced in a nonlinear way. Her work captures the flux of her surroundings as she pieces them together. Each image is an amalgamation of different places and times, using personal associations as a basis for what appears and what is left out. Tilt-a-Whirl, her first solo show at The George Gallery, was created during the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program, a year-long residency in Brooklyn, NYC.
Gildersleeve will speak about her approach to painting and how the particularities of her process have developed in order to create this latest body of work.
