Summer Camp 2022
Keeping the safety of our campers, teachers, staff members, and their families at top of mind, we have decided to move forward with in-person camp with smaller camp classes and increased safety measures, including mandatory masks for all students, teachers, interns, and Gibbes staff.
Full-Day Camp for Ages 6-10
June 6-10: Celebrating Lowcountry Artists, for ages 6-10
From Jonathan Green to William H. Johnson, and Mary Whyte to Mary Jackson, the Lowcountry has been home to amazing artists over the year. This week, young artists will explore the work of Lowcountry artists in the permanent collection and beyond as they develop their own unique brand of creativity.

June 27-July 1: Portraits in Paint and Print, for ages 11-15
Designed for students with an interest in developing art skills and techniques, this week-long camp will dive into the mechanics of painting and printmaking while exploring portraits.

Discover the amazing world or mixed media collage in this fun camp session. Students will experiment with different techniques and styles of combining different materials together to create unique works of art.

Explore the world and many different cultures through the artists and art created. Students will experiment with different techniques and media as they travel the globe.

Half-Day Camp for Teens and Tweens
June 20-24: Silver Working, for ages 14-16
Learn the fine art of working with silver. Students will learn to saw, pierce, file, solder, drill, and clean metals in creating individual piece of jewelry. Techniques will include cold connection, forging, and piercing.
9am–12pm: $400 Members | $425 Non-MembersRegister Age 14-16June 27-July 1: Blue Hues: Indigo dyeing, painting, and printing, for ages 11-15
This summer camp with past visiting artist Kristy Bishop is all about that fantastic and versatile dye indigo. Campers will learn about the Lowcountry history of indigo, its impact worldwide, and the science of vat dyeing. During the week, campers will explore shibori tie-dye techniques, cassava paste resist, making indigo paint, and screen printing with indigo ink. Campers can bring personal items to dye, paint, and print on in addition to provided cotton fabric.
1pm–4pm: $230 Members | $250 Non-MembersRegister Age 11-15July 11-15: Fantastic Fibers: Weaving, Knitting, Sewing, Dyeing, and Painting, for ages 11-13
This summer camp is for the textile lover. Campers will spend the week learning the basics or weaving, spool knitting, hand sewing, dyeing, and printing on fabric with past visiting artist Kristy Bishop. Projects could range from printed totes, t-shirts, woven tapestry, knitted fiber jewelry, hand-dyed pillows and so much more!

Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice artists will explore the amazing works by the South Carolina artist and create unique works of their own.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
If the student withdraws before 30 business days before the start of camp, tuition will be refunded minus a $25 administrative fee. Any student who withdraws within 30 days and up to 5 business days before the start of class, tuition will be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee. Students withdrawing from camp within 5 business days of the start of camp will be refunded tuition at half of the registration price. There are no refunds after the start of camp.
Credit card and membership fees are nonrefundable.
