Romare Bearden's art is as diverse as it is vibrant. Best known for his figurative collages from the 1960s and 1970s, his abstract work, produced in the decade prior, has been largely absent from the public eye until now. In this conversation, we’ll hear from Tracy Fitzpatrick, Director of the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, SUNY, and Bearden Exhibition Curator and Diedra Harris Harris-Kelley, Co-Director of the Romare Bearden Foundation, about the artist’s abstractions, what they offer our understanding of Bearden’s body of work overall, and their relevance today.
