Gibbes Museum of Art
Threshold: A 3-Part Performance experiment brings together live electronic music and dance for an unforgettable experience at the Gibbes Museum. Charleston's first Poet Laureate, Marcus Amaker (as tape loop), creates spontaneous electronic soundscapes, while performing artist, past Gibbes Visiting Artist, and scholar Dr. Kate March moves through each note, her intuitive, expressive movement blending seamlessly with the music.
Together, Amaker and March will explore what it means to cross thresholds—moments of anticipation, rupture, and transformation. This series invites the audience to feel these shifts in real time, creating a space where sound, movement, and poetic presence converge.
With support, the artists plan to document these performances in a live audio/visual album, capturing the energy and resonance of each moment for audiences to revisit and relive the magic of this shared journey.
