Growing up in Tacoma, WA, Zurfluh spent rainy days drawing, watching cartoons, reading comics and playing video games. His early creativity was heavily influenced by punk and skateboard culture, eventually leading to an influence in the Hip Hop community. Today, he continues his artistry by combining all of his past experiences with design skills to form new work.
Artist Statement
My body of work centers around health and wellness, documenting my journey of growth for all to see. I am examining ancestral wounds and healing them for my own personal wellbeing and to break the mental anguish cycle that has been passed down through my family. My paintings start a conversation at the human experience of grief to build through light, positive directions we can use to heal. I share my experiences with others so that we can all talk and grow as one. Knowing that you are not alone, that grief is felt by everyone, is the first step to healing.
