Private, Corporate, & School Groups

Thank you for your interest in booking a tour of the Gibbes Museum of Art. Your request is important to us. We are in the process of restructuring our docent corps. Therefore we will be unable to fulfill your request from April 13 through the end of May, but we are happy to consider a date in the future. In the interim please join one of our public tours, Wednesdays at 3PM and Fridays at 1PM, free with admission. Curator- and Director-Led Tours

$20 per person for Curator-Led Tour*

$35 per person for Director-Led Tour*

Curator-led adult tours give your group the opportunity to explore our permanent collection or a special exhibition for groups of 10 or more. For a VIP experience, guests can book a Director-led tour of the collection or exhibitions. Subject to availability.

Guided Group Tours for Adults

$15 per person*; Seniors: $13 per person*

Guided tours with a Museum Docent are available to groups of 10 or more. These discussion-based tours inspire dialogue about the works on view.

Self-Guided Group Tours

Adults and Seniors: $10 per person*; Student (PreK – college) school groups: $5 per student*; Title I school groups are free

All groups—from PreK–12, and college to adult groups—are invited to explore the Museum's exhibitions on their own, or with an outside educator. Self-guided tours have a 10-person minimum and must take place during the Museum's public hours. Guided Group Tours for Students

We invite all K-12 school groups to experience the Museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. Choose from a list of interactive & interdisciplinary themes to meet your needs.


Schedule An Adult Tour

To schedule an adult tour, please email your request to [email protected] or call 843.722.2706 x241. Reservations are contingent upon availability, and tours are not scheduled until confirmed via telephone or email. To book a school group, please visit our K-12 group tour page for more information. Please have the following information available when booking your adult group:

  • Your name and the name of your organization or group
  • Contact telephone number (cell or home number if available)
  • Contact email address
  • Type of tour you are requesting
  • Several dates and times you would like to bring your group
  • Number of people in your group
  • Special needs your group may require


We request that cancellations occur in writing at least three business days before your scheduled visit. Please email your cancellation to [email protected] Please note that refunds will NOT be given for reservations cancelled less than one business day before the scheduled date. Groups will be responsible for their minimum tour fee if they are a no show, or cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled tour time. Please be prompt. Groups more than 30 minutes late will forfeit their time slot.


You may pay for your tour by cash, check, money order, or credit card. Tours must be paid for at least three days before the scheduled date. Checks or money orders should be made payable to The Gibbes Museum of Art. Please be sure to write the words “Group Tour” on the check or money order. We’re sorry that we cannot give reimbursements if there are fewer people in your group than initially scheduled.

Lunch Facilities

While we don’t have an indoor lunch space, in warmer weather, groups may reserve our outdoor courtyard for picnics. We invite school groups to store bagged lunches in the classrooms.
