Join Christina Rae Butler for an illustrated lecture highlighting exemplary Beaux Arts buildings in two unique East Coast cities that are known for their fascinating architecture. The Beaux Arts style originated in Paris and first became popular in the United States through the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The rich and ornate details of the Beaux Arts made it popular with mansion owners in Newport, Rhode Island and for commercial and public buildings in Charleston, most notably the Gibbes Museum of Art.

Butler is Professor of Historic Preservation at American College of the Building Arts and is an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston. She also operates Butler Preservation LC, a Charleston based property research and restoration consulting business.
