Class meets for two sessions on Thursday and Friday, April 12 and 13 from 10am-4pm. This 2-day workshop with Peggy Ellis will focus on creating freshness and simplicity of design in your paintings. Day one starts with a demo, including how to choose a strong composition, color mixing, brush selection and achieving bold textures with a palette knife. You’ll get your painting started and finish it up the next day to take home and show off. It’s “intuitive” and fun, like icing a cake!

Suggested Supplies: Disposable palette pad, studio canvas and/or wood panel (medium size), palette knives (such as Cheson 832, 899, 852), brushed (1 inch flat, #8 flat, #2 round, #14 filbert), oil paint (yellow ochre, raw sienna, cadmium yellow medium, transparent earth red, burnt umber, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, cobalt blue, cerulean, Gamblin Portland cool gray and Gamblin Portland warm gray, sap green, permalba white), Gamblin solvent free gel, walnut oil, sketch pad, pencil and eraser, Viva paper towels, smock, nitrile exam gloves

You may request a beginner's kit assembled by Peggy Ellis for $50. This includes palette paper and palette, canvas, paints for class, brushes, palette knives, sketch pad and pencil. Please reserve your kit when you register. Supplies can also be purchased from Artist & Craftsman Uptown located at 981 King Street.
