Gibbes Museum of Art to Host Virtual Fundraiser

Gibbes on the Couch

Charleston, S.C., April 27, 2020 – The Gibbes Museum of Art will host Gibbes on the Couch, the largest ‘non-event’ of the year on Thursday, April 30. In lieu of Gibbes on the Street, the annual street party that was cancelled due to COVID-19, the museum is inviting the public to cozy up on their couches and enjoy the night with their quarantine buddy to support the museum and its culinary partners who were scheduled to participate in the annual fundraiser for the museum’s visual arts educational programs.

“Every single person has somehow been affected by COVID-19,” says Angela Mack, executive director of the Gibbes Museum of Art. “Gibbes on the Couch is going to be a night of healing, joy and companionship to remind us all that while events and social gatherings are cancelled for the time being, we are not alone. We are all in this together, and it’s important that we can lean on each other during these times.”

Participants are asked to make a donation to the Gibbes at www.gibbesmuseum.org/donate to support the museum’s educational programs. The Gibbes also invites participants to support the extraordinary local restaurant partners that are continuing to provide service despite COVID-19 by ordering takeout for the night.
