Celebrate the inaugural Kennard Kennedy HBCU Showcase featuring works from HBCU artists and graduates, at an opening reception on May 26, 2024 at 2pm. 

The Kennard Kennedy HBCU Showcase was established to provide HBCU students with the opportunity to showcase and sell their artwork while celebrating the diversity of talent of the next generation of emerging artists. The Kennard Kennedy HBCU Showcase is named for and supported by The Kennard Kennedy Fund, committed to efforts that increase art access and outreach efforts to all communities. 

Limited to individuals who attend or have recently graduated from HBCU’S in the following States (South East Region): West Virginia, Virginia, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Florida. The Gibbes Museum of Art’s multi-dimensional education and outreach programs are designed to expand the museum experience, foster a personal relationship between our visitors and the works, generate critical conversation on the art and culture of Charleston and the Lowcountry, and grow an increasingly diverse Museum audience.
